Hi guys, I've left it very late to be telling you about this, sorry, but the IGA are running a rubber-sword LARP up in Bellurgan Park, Louth, on the 21st of September. Details can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/AcademyAtEblana/ and www.facebook.com/AcademyOfEblana. We hope to be running 4 events a year, so next time I'll give more notice. Apologies again.

And for the record, heaps of Higher Powers types are going, including but not limited to me, Dr. Tarot, Major Koslov, Vince, Alexandria, Alpha, Allegra, Cesaria Vargas and Shaman. (I'm pretty sure Relic and Cardshark are going too.) G'wan g'wan g'wan. More people than Higher Powers or Midway or whatever you've played at cons, less chance (zero chance) of being shot at like at the Rionegro Escalation, better costuming than either Higher Powers or Rionegro. It'll kick all the asses ever

better costuming than either Higher Powers or Rionegro. I wouldn't count on that, I for one may need to make a couple of last minute kit buys!

I've just submitted my character and background so I'll be heading along to this.

If your AoE costume is as good as your HP costume, and we know a bunch of people whose AoE costume is awesome, then the whole game has better costume on average

Thank you Nick, that is a way more awesome and persuasive advertisement than any I've come up with

I am rent-a-froth.
Seriously, though, I don't know why everyone isn't bleating about Eblana on here. The more players in the games we play the better. And there's a bunch of Higher Powers players who would really enjoy the costuming parts of the fantasy LARP millieu (not looking at Catnip or Krystal Darkflame at *all*.)

This happened, it was great, thanks to the organisers for running it and to Nick for selling it to me.

It was amazing!!
I played a half elf, using my first ever prosthetic! And I made leather armour and I sewed a cloak, a magic cloak of warmth.
It was epic and I want more.

So Eblana and Higher Powers are both at Vaticon. Any advice for a Rubber sword larp newb? What cool factions should I join I was thinking I'd like to try an alchemist or spell caster (I'm not built for running around)

The Mages of Emroth are always worth joining up with.

There are some very physically active wizards and a couple of ponderous warriors. Cut off point for groups numbers wise seems to be 8, least that's the numbers the 2 largest groups have been asked to cut off at so far. As for advice, wear comfortable shoes with thick socks and decide what your doing character wise well ahead of time.

The Intro stuff on the website is a bit hard to navigate. So I pick a race and concept and email the director? So Eblana and Higher Powers are both at Vaticon. Ideally stat up a character and come up with a background then email the event team, yeah. If you need a hand with rules/stats I'm happy to help (message me on Facebook) or you can post on the game's forum: www.irishgaming.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21

Are the mages of Emroth one of the cut off groups? The two cut-off groups are The Family and The Rangers I believe. There's two mages from Emroth in the game so far, but we're better than everyone else so that's fine.
